Plaza Classic Film Fest Screenwriting Pitch Fest Winner, Jorge Gomez, discusses and gives his winning pitch to hosts Stephanie Valle and Lisa Elliott

Born in Ciudad Juarez, Jorge Gomez is an English Professor at El Paso Community College. His script, "Return to Sender," was a finalist for the 9th edition of the Oaxaca FilmFest, and a finalist for the 2022 Plaza Classic Film Festival Screenwriting Competition. As a first-generation immigrant, he served on the Board of Directors for Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center. His poetry is found in Palabritas, Pidgeonholes, Acentos Review, and Tender Fences: an Anthology of Immigrant & First-Generation American Poetry. Currently, he serves as Co-PI for the Humanities Collaborative at EPCC-UTEP and as fellow for the Great Questions Foundation. Jorge is the winner of the 2025 Plaza Classic Pitch Fest.
