"Notting Hill" Schedule

Dinner and a Movie: I'm Just a Girl: Monday, July 21st, 5:00 PM, Foundation Room (Visit link for tickets)

Lecture: "Notting Hill": Monday, July 21st, 6:00 PM, Philanthropy Theatre (FREE)

Film "Notting Hill": Monday, July 21st, 7:00 PM, Plaza Theatre Kendle Kidd Performance Hall ($8.00)

"A classic rom-com from the classic age of rom-coms, Notting Hill flips the script. Instead of a powerful, established man falling for a vulnerable woman, the power figure here is the world’s most popular actress, Anna Scott (Roberts). When she wanders into a humble travel book shop owned by the hapless William Thacker (Grant), love is born into a flipped power dynamic. Scott and Thacker are great together when hanging with his eclectic group of friends, but things don’t go so smoothly when her power-actor boyfriend (Alec Baldwin) blows into town, or when the press gets wind of the liaison. Thacker decides he’s not cut out for such a high-profile life. Of course, that’s only the beginning of the third act. Roberts and Grant are at the height of their powers and charm here. Note: the bookshop is real and exists today in the heart of Notting Hill. — Craig Holden"
