Hosts Stephanie Valle and Lisa Elliot take a look back at horror films with actress/anchor Liz Kern.
Former KDBC-4 News Anchor Liz Kern may be familiar to the El Paso market after anchoring and reporting for nearly a decade beginning in 1996.
She is also a bonafide scream queen. Kern appeared in horror films including The Wraith, Night of the Creeps, and starring as the 'final girl' in the 1989 movie Intruder, where she played Jennifer Ross, the heroine running from a grocery store slasher. Kern worked alongside Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Reservoir Dogs producer, Lawrence Bender. She also played Chris Penn's wife in Juarez: Stages of Fear, filmed in El Paso.
Kern anchored, reported and produced news for KDBC, the CBS affiliate in El Paso, Texas. She hosted the #1 rated Noon Show for nearly 10 years. "I traveled with Travis Tritt on his Texas road tour, raced zero to 300 mph in the “Shockwave” jet truck, fed stingrays at Sea World, covered the premiere of Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, and reported live during 9-11 from the International Bridges bordering Juarez and El Paso, TX."
Kern now lives in Fresno, with her husband and two sons. She's a graduate of USC’s Broadcast Journalism school. Kern joined the KMJ News team in 2015, where she anchors daily newscasts for 580AM/1059FM (a pioneer station in the Central Valley of California for 100+ years.} She and the KMJ news team recently won a Golden Mike award. Before that Kern was Associate Editor at Fresno Magazine
