El Paso Resources and Service Learning Agencies: What Sources Can I Use

This LibGuide will help you learn about the El Paso Community, EPCC Library resources, and community resources

Last Question: What Types of Resources Can You Use?

Before you start looking for information, make sure you find out what type of sources your instructor wants you to use and then create a list of plausible keyword terms for your topic.   Do not forget to ask the librarians for instructions on how to use the catalog and databases.

Can you use:

  •  Books
  • e-Books
  • Magazines
  • Journals
  • Newspapers
  • Websites

Are there other restrictions such as:

  • The age of the source.
  • The type of websites you can use. (Most instructors will not accept Wikipedia as a source).
  • Number of sources you need to use.

Find out this information before you begin to search for information so you don't use a source that you are not supposed to use.

If you are not sure what type of sources you can use, ask your instructor or read your syllabus.
