How to Use the EPCC Libraries: Home

The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Libraries are a welcoming place for research, study, and reading. This guide explains how to use the library.

Welcome to the EPCC Libraries!

Our Mission at the El Paso Community College (EPCC) Libraries is to provide instruction, service, access to information, and materials that enhance academic growth and personal enrichment which supports the College mission.

Get help from a Reference Librarian

When you do research for your classes, you should not hesitate to ask a reference librarian for assistance. A  reference librarian can assist you in determining which resources you should choose, knowing how to search them, and being able to incorporate the newly found information into your paper. Becoming a savvy researcher may take a while; in the meantime, you can count on the reference librarians to guide you through the research process.  You can stop by the reference desk at any EPCC Campus Library or call the reference desk and schedule an appointment. You can arrange to meet in person or over the phone to get the help you need!

Access to Library Resources/Services

Welcome to the El Paso Community College library. As a student, it is important that you become familiar with the services and resources available to you from our library; it is simply a myth that libraries are facilities that simply house books. The El Paso Community College libraries can provide students with access to millions of articles through online databases, citation help, Interlibrary Loan services, computer use, printing, reference support, and so on. To access the various services offered by EPCC, go to our Web site at https://www.epcc.edu/Services/Libraries

The EPCC libraries page is where you can search for books, access citation help, view library services, acquire online databases, and more. Using the EPCC libraries page and some of its common features will be explained in the rest of this LibGuide.

Connecting from Off-Campus

When you are not physically at an EPCC Library, access the databases by first going to the library homepage, then click on the online databases link and select the Off-Campus link of the selected database. Or also from the library home page, perform a search using the Discovery Service search box and at the top of your results page you will see  a yellow banner "Hello, Guest. Login for full access." You will be prompted for your EPCC email user name and password.

Your user name is the letters and numbers preceding the @ sign in your email address. For example the email address for John Doe is johndoe23@myepcc.edu. If you do not remember your EPCC email username or password please use the Account Recovery Service at apps.epcc.edu.
