The National Research Council (NRC) and National Academy of Engineering (NAE) have released a new report, Community Colleges in the Evolving STEM Education Landscape: Summary of a Summit. Based on a national summit that was supported by the National Science Foundation and organized by the NRC and the NAE, the report highlights the importance of community colleges, especially in emerging areas of STEM (Sciene, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and preparation of the STEM workforce.

In recent years, there has been a renewed focus on STEM education in the United States, fueled by evidence that young learners' competencies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are falling behind those of their global peers. Scholars and practitioners are beginning to utilize the new pedagogical opportunities offered by mobile learning to improve the successes of teachers and K-12 students across STEM subjects.

More skilled young people are urgently needed in science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the UK. This book indicates how policy can be developed to encourage young people to consider STEM careers.
