Children's Resources

An online collection of resources for preschool and school-aged children to use from home.

Interland

Interland is a  colorful and fun way to have children learn about digital safety and good citizenship. It is presented by Google in their Be Internet Awesome program aimed at helping kids learn some important online skills. undefinedThe goal of the game is to go on a quest to help themselves and others while combating people like bullies, hackers, oversharers, and phishers while exploring four different islands.

The island called Tower of Treasure teaches children how to guard their secrets by allowing them to store their valuables, messages, and emails, in the tower as they outrun hackers that want to steal their information and identity. Once all of the messages are gathered they can be taken to the tower where they are protected after the player creates a strong password.  undefinedundefined

In Kind Kingdom, the player collects hearts and gives them to characters because they have been bullied. The player then tells on the bully and gets him to leave the others alone. The player will jump from rock to rock collecting love for others while protecting them from having their feelings hurt. The bully will eventually also be shown love as they are offered hearts by the player which changes the bully so that he never bullies again. undefined

Reality River is an island where the river is full of fact and fiction. The player must navigate the waters by using their best judgment and avoiding phishers who are trying to trick the player. Each platform that is jumped on has a question that must be answered correctly to get closer to the other side. Children will learn online safety skills such as what to do with an email that doesn't seem right or if someone online asks them a question that makes them uncomfortable. undefinedundefined

Mindful Mountain is an island that teaches children to share information with care. This island takes place in the town center where there are many other internauts. Each round has important information that the player must decide who to share with. The information is shared via a laser and gets to the other character by bouncing off of mirrors. This game teaches children that some information should not be given to just anyone such as where they are going to meet before a dance, a funny video they child was in or their parent's credit card information. If the child gets the information to the wrong undefinedinternaut then advise is given as to what the child should do in that situation. undefined
