Information about the Mission del Paso Library

REFERENCE - INFORMATION

  • A professional reference librarian is on duty during the hours that the library is open. 
  • Librarians are available for consultation on reference and research questions and to assist patrons in using the computer catalog, the online databases, the reference collection or any other library resource. 
  • Books and non-print materials are available for check out.  Reference sources and periodicals are for use in the library only.
  • Ask for assistance at the Reference desk or Circulation desk.

LIBRARY INSTRUCTION

Faculty may schedule library instruction for their classes with any of the librarians. We request a minimum three day notice for scheduling all library classes. Please advise the librarian of any special needs.  Instruction can be in person, hybrid or online. Please call (915) 831-7040 for additional information.

PHOTOCOPIES

Coin and copy card operated photocopiers are available at each library. Copies cost 10 cents with a Copy card. The card costs $1.00 but only 50 cents is credited initially. You can add $ to cards when needed.

PRINTING

Mission Library Print Station

 

Printing is available at the Library. Black and white printing is 5¢ per page with a Copy card. Color printing  is 25¢ per page, also with a Copy card.  Copy cards may be purchased from our Copy Card machine for the price of $1.00. 50¢  for the card the other 50¢ for print jobs. Stop by our library and ask one of our library team members for assistance.

STUDY ROOMS

There is One (1) Study Rooms for student/faculty/staff use on a first-come, first-served basis.

Priority is for 3 or more students.

We do not reserve the rooms.

  • Fines
    The fine for overdue material is .25¢ per day per item. Four days after the date due, the fine is recorded and sent to Accounts Receivable. Students can use the Banner System to pay online. Community users must come first to the library where a library assistant will give the community user a library invoice. This official invoice must be presented and paid to the college cashier. To clear the fine, the community user must return to the library with the receipt of this transaction.
  • Lost Books
    Users are going to be charged the replacement cost plus a processing fee of $10 (ten) dollars. Failure to pay overdue fines and replacement costs will result in the blocking of all registration procedures for students and in the revocation of the library card for community users.
  • Renewal
    Materials can be renewed. User must bring the materials with him/her for renewal.
  • Holds
    If the material is on loan, you may place a "hold" or reserve it by notifying library staff behind the circulation desk. The information you need to provide is: title, call number, campus where available.
  • Transfer of Materials
    Materials will be transferred between E.P.C.C. campus libraries. Simply notify library staff at the Circulation desk. The information you need to provide is: title, call number, campus where available.

COMPUTER USE

Mission Library Public Computers

  • Multi-purpose computers with Internet access are available to users with a valid picture I.D. Priority is given to EPCC students, faculty and staff with a valid EPCC I.D.
  • Two hour limit if students are waiting.
  • Dedicated computers for the Online Catalog and the Online Databases are also available.
  • Users must pay for printing using a copy card or use travel (USB) drives for downloading.
  • Please be considerate of others when using our computers.
  • Please remember that Children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.
  • The library does not allow the download of personal or class software onto the library's computers. Please make arrangements with computer lab to view/use your software.
  • Computers are available everyday we are open and are shut off 15 minutes before closing.

BORROWING LIBRARY MATERIALS

EPCC ID Cards will be used as library cards. When you wish to check out library material, present your current validated card along with your material at the Circulation Desk. Your I.D. Card may be used at all El Paso Community College Libraries.

Community User Library Cards will be issued to current El Paso County residents who are not EPCC students, faculty and staff. Applications are available at each library circulation desk, and the card may be renewed every year. General circulation regulations will apply to Community User Library Card holders. Only two items can be checked out at a time. (Community users are not eligible for Interlibrary Loan.) 

RETURNING MATERIALS

Return materials to the Circulation Desk during the hours that the library is open.  When the library is closed, return all materials in the book drop outside the library entrance or curbside near the blue mailbox.

Materials may be returned to any

EPCC campus library.

RESERVE MATERIALS

The library provides access to some course textbooks and readings. Some of this material may come from the library collection; the majority is supplied by the instructors. The materials are placed on Reserve according to teachers' instructions or librarians' judgment. Patrons wishing to view/photocopy or scan Reserve material must provide a picture ID.
