This Grant was made possible as part of the Accelerating Promising Practices for Small Libraries Program awarded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) VV IMLS Grant Aug. 2019- Aug 2021

Purpose

This Seniors Going Digital Libguide is a repository for videos, lesson plans, PowerPoints, and other important files relating to the IMLS grant the EPCC Valle Verde Library received:  FY 2019 Accelerating Promising Practices for Small Libraries Program award for the project “Accelerating Promising Practices for Small Libraries” (Dates: Aug. 2019-Aug. 2021).

Investigating the concept of "Fake News."

Description: In this video, we explore the concept of “fake news.” We will look at…

• An anecdote – We will look at an example of a real-world effect of fake news.

• Background - We will explore the concept of fake news and related concepts of misinformation and disinformation.

• Tips for evaluating information- By the end of this video, you will have at least two methods to distinguish types of fake news or disinformation

 • An example- We will look at a recent, possible fake news type example and apply an information literacy process to debunk it or prove it is real.
