EPCC Mental Health Awareness partners with the EPCC Mental Health committee to provide students, faculty, and staff mental health training and information on community resources.

El Paso Community College Mental Health Committee
The Mental Health Committee (MHC) is a collaborative initiative driven by instructional faculty, counselors, staff, and administrators established in Spring 2019 through the EPCC Faculty Association. We have established three data-driven goals based on mental-health survey results conducted by El Paso Community College:
- Advocate for mental health care services as needed for students on all EPCC campuses.
- Provide mental health sensitivity/knowledge training for EPCC employees and students.
- Disseminate information about preventative mental health education and community resources to all EPCC employees and students.
We collaborate with EPCC Counseling, the Office of Student Success, and EPCC Cares, the social service and mental health center at EPCC. We also collaborate with numerous community agencies.
Mental Health Committee Charge:
The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Mental Health Committee (MHC) is a college-wide committee comprised of EPCC faculty, staff, and administrators who support and promote mental health and well-being as a central aspect of the college experience.
Mission Statement:
The EPCC MHC is committed to supporting and improving mental health and well-being by serving the diverse needs of the EPCC community through mental health awareness, the promotion of resources and support services, and the reduction of stigma.
Vision:
The Mental Health Committee will provide guidance in the presence of mental health struggles and crises experienced by EPCC students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Objectives:
- Unify efforts to improve mental health and well-being across the EPCC district through partnerships and enhanced promotion of the MHC, comprised of faculty, staff, and administrators from various disciplines and campuses.
- Enhance mental health and well-being resources by addressing needs, increasing awareness, and improving the methods for promoting current and future resources.
- Continue to understand the student experience around mental health and well-being through conversation, mental health first aid, and mental health resource fairs for students and other members of the EPCC community.
- Provide quality mental health services and support through EPCC Support Services, direct outreach, referral services, and partnerships.
- Recognize, respect, and respond to every member of the EPCC community with human dignity.
- Continually create and search for more efficient methods to reach and serve the EPCC community.
