When you are given an assignment, you may not know how to get started.
This guide will take you step-by-step through the process of getting ready to research.
Click on the pull-down menu under "How to Get Started" to learn more about each of these steps.
Put down your highlighter. When you see something that should be highlighted,
take notes, make comments or write down questions that come to mind.
If the book isn't yours, do this on post it notes.
After each paragraph, summerize the information in one sentence,
without leaving out the most important points. You can also write down key words
that will help you recall the most important ideas. When you finish your reading assignment,
you should have a concise review of what was read.
If a passage is especially difficult, using your dictionary re-write what you have read.
Discuss it with your instructor and others in your class.
