From The Editors
Sandra R. Pierce, and Rosemary Hoy
I am very pleased to have had the privilege to work as Editor for Borderlands this year. The experience and knowledge that I have acquired the past two years while working on this paper are irreplaceable. It is important to preserve the history of our area, and that is the major goal of Borderlands. I hope that as you read the paper, the articles will take you back in time. Rosemary Hoy joined us as the assistant editor this year and greatly contributed to the work of the paper. Tony Barron put in endless hours to create another outstanding cover. And Ms. Ruth Vise, the faculty editor, kept us all on track so we would meet each of our deadlines. Though we worked over spring break, we had fun and I will cherish the memories that we made producing Borderlands. Heartfelt thanks to all of the people involved in making this paper possible, from the students and their research, to Leon Metz, who always had time to talk to me, when I had a question. I especially want to give thanks and love to my husband Ray, and our three children Raymond, Amanda, and Cherity who weathered the many hours this job entailed.
